WATER, WATER, EVERYWHERE

Greers Ferry Lake was dedicated by the late president John F. Kennedy in 1963. With approximately 32,500 acres of lake surface it is a haven for boaters, water sports enthusiasts and particularly fishermen, since the lake is stocked with every game fish native to Arkansas. A major tourist destination, Greers Ferry is ranked as one of the most pollution free lakes in the nation.

Dam Site Marina is conveniently located adjacent to Brighton Pointe.  For more information and to inquire about boat and jet ski rental or boat storage, please contact the marina manager at 501-362-2333.

The Little Red River flows out of Greers Ferry Dam. It's a world class fishery for brown and rainbow trout. In 1992 the river produced a world record fish; a 40-pound, 4-ounce brown trout.  Area outfitters are available for all your fishing needs.  Contact the Heber Springs Chamber of Commerce for additional information.

THINGS TO DO AND THINGS TO SEE

In addition to lake recreation, there are 15 federally-maintained parks and three national recreational trails for camping and hiking and almost all the recreation is free. Popular festivals are staged annually in the area including the Ozark Frontier Trail and Craft Show and the Great Cardboard Boat Race.

Trumpeter swans make their winter home on Magness Lake halfway between Heber Springs and Wilburn.  Trumpeters are the largest members of the swan family and they’re found nowhere else in significant numbers in this part of the country.  To reach the swans and Magness Lake, drive east on Arkansas Highway 2 & 25 just east of Heber Springs.  Go 3.9 miles from the intersection to Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, marked with a white sign.  Turn left on Hayes, a paved country road.  Magness Lake is about ½ mile down this road.
